Midsize Car Sales In Canada November 2014 YTD

Heading into December 2014, no midsize car in Canada sold as often between January and November as the Ford Fusion. But the Fusion hasnt led on a monthly basis since June of this year.

Its lead over the second-ranked car at the halfway point, however, at 917 units, is mostly intact. The Fusion is 810 sales ahead of the Accord through eleven months, a lead the Accord is unlikely to surmount in December.

Directly in keeping with the Fusions 12.6% loss through eleven months is the midsize categorys 12.6% decline, a loss of 15,677 sales for the core segment.

Among volume players, only the Chevrolet Malibu and Subaru Legacy posted year-to-date increases through November. The Legacy is still a low-volume car, of course, but in comparison to the more premium-priced Buick Regal, its downright popular.

In November, it was the Toyota Camrys turn to take top honours. The Hyundai Sonata led through three months of summer. The Chrysler 200 was the top midsize dog in October. The Camry outsold the next-best-selling Sonata by 170 units in November.

You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly Canadian auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBCs Sales Stats page. These tables are now sortable, so you can rank midsize cars any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

GCBC isnt here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains why youll see the Outback and Venza listed with midsize SUVs, too... because readers have wanted it both ways. Small And Midsize Luxury SUV Sales In America July 2014 YTD

2015 BMW X4 red
With respective year-over-year sales gains of 14% and 13%, the Lexus RX and Acura MDX were the major players in Americas luxury crossover segment in July 2014. MDX sales are up by 13,182 units year-to-date, a pleasant increase for a brand thats seen sales in its changing car division dwindle and the RDX slide 1%.

USA luxury SUV sales chart July 2014
Click Chart To Expand. Chart should
read 407 X6 sales, as per BMWs correction.
Meanwhile, Lexus RX sales are up by 2667 units so far this year. The NX, arriving soon, will undercut the RX in price but should cater to a bit of a different buyer.

BMW USA sold their first 262 X4s in July. Its hard to imagine that the X4 will be anything but an X6-like addition to the X3 range, as the X6 is to the X5. BMW sells eight X5s for every X6. July was just the beginning, but BMW sold six X3s for every X4.

The Lincoln MKC arrived in late May but put up its first meaningful numbers in July, with 1534 sales. Porsche sold 952 Macans, meaning sales at Porsches utility vehicle range jumped 60% in July 2014.

These luxury brand utility vehicles are the key part of premium auto growth in America. Evidence of that can clearly be seen in the smaller sections total, where sales grew 10%, or 1816 units, compared with July 2013. This isnt just down to the addition of the MKC and Macan. And even if it was, that would still suggest increased demand in the vehicle category.

These tables are now sortable, so you can rank luxury SUVs and crossovers any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

Small And Midsize Luxury SUV Sales In Canada November 2014 YTD

The Audi Q5 is no longer Canadas best-selling luxury SUV. Both in November 2014 and through the first eleven months of 2014, the Q5 has been outsold.

The Lexus RX now leads on year-to-date terms with 7343 units, 85 more than the Q5. The RX, Mercedes-Benz GLK, Acura RDX, and Acura MDX all outsold the Q5 in November 2014.

But while Q5 sales slowed in November, Audi Canada more than made up for the deficit by reporting another month of improved Q3 sales.

The smallest Audi crossover generated 366 sales last month, taking Audis Q5/Q3 total up to 881 units in November 2014 from 687 in November 2013, a 28% year-over-year improvement.

Meanwhile, BMWs selling more X1s even with the arrival of increased competition from the Q3 and Mercedes-Benzs GLA. X1 sales jumped 43% in November.

BMWs bigger X3 is down year-to-date but jumped 30% to 461 November sales. The Mercedes-Benz GLK climbed beyond 600 units for the third time this year.
