Toyota has officially unveiled its final version of the Scion xB-based urban utility vehicle at the New York auto show, which will go on sale here from June 1 as the Toyota Rukus.
The Toyota Rukus’ US counterpart has recently been named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety – its highest safety designation.

In order to receive this title, the Rukus had to earn the highest rating in the Institute’s front; side, rollover, and rear impact tests and had to be equipped with vehicle stability control.

To achieve this result in the rollover test especially, the roof had to support the equivalent of four times the vehicle’s weight – more than double the existing US federal sta
federal standard – with the Rukus managing to withstand a force equal to 6.8 times its vehicle weight.

Stepping out of its comfort zone, the Toyota Rukus is aimed at ‘young, urban trend-setters’ – many of whom have previously never owned a Toyota.

Australian models will be imported from Japan and received the latest updates introduce in the US version, including a slim-line upper grille and larger mouth-like lower intake.

Toyota makes no excuses for its design, with Toyota Australia’s marketing manager Scott Thompson saying they deliberately set out to challenge the norms of car design.

The unveiling of Rukus at the New York auto show has been a great event. This model is a head turning vehicle which would be on sale from June 1st. The great looks of the Rukus along with its ground breaking qualities make it a very special car. But it is not one for the mainstream market though it has become iconic in the US market for its remarkable qualities.

Toyota Australia’s marketing manager, Scott Thompson, has already declared that the Rukus would be able to maintain a very young as well as urban trend setting experience. The car’s design is a bold move in the international field. It is not one of the cars looking to be accepted by all and sundry but really create a standing out stance. Its boxy shape is quite challenging to the usual norms of car dealership.

It is there to spark quite an issue in the mass-market for cars. It brings polarizing opinions amidst the wide ranging car market. Its performance and features go beyond the normal expectations of the car market. Rukus fans are passionate about the ground breaking deals this car is welcoming into the world. There are many owners who dress up the Rukus according to their own taste, with the help of accessorizing that comes right after the main market release.

Toyota Genuine has been customizing and bringing access to the whole scenario for Rukus’s setting. It is yet to be unveiled in the Australian market but would be released with big fanfare as it is not going to just yet another car release.

The New Toyota Supra picture

 Toyota started the Supra project back in the days when it was still  testing the ground to see if it could sell Luxury vehicles in the US, of  course, now that Lexus is dominating the luxury segment in the states  (and not doing too badly here either), the answer was an obvious yes.

However a few years ago Toyota went a little crazy, they decided that  they no longer needed proper sports cars, they dumped the MR2 (After  they turned it into the revolting male hairdresser car, which  was its last incarnation), they dumped the Celica (having already dumped  the GT4 version of the celicas some time ago) and they had already  given up on the Supra back in 2002.
So whilst I say toyota gave up on sports cars, they of course had the  Lexus IS series, but since Toyota wants to stay very separate to Lexus,  there is no point in counting the IS series as part of Toyota’s sports  line up. Hence began the era of “Sportivo” the horrible name  associated with front-wheel-drive vehicles that were nothing more than a  last minute decision to add some “sportyness” to the brand.
Of course for those who bought the likes of Camry/Corollo Sportivos,  the sheer shame of driving a car named sportivo should have been enough  disappointment, but Toyota has gotten away with having no real sports  car for a very long time!

Toyota announced the release of color, "the passion is back" and frankly there is no shortage of pace this new sports coupe 86 GT 4 places named for Europe. Continuing to develop its range hybrid, Toyota has a concept in Detroit foreshadowing a future model positioning itself as the Prius 3.

Designed at Toyota Europe Design Development of Sophia Antipolis, more known as ED2, the Toyota FT-CH concept is shorter than 55 cm from the family Prius 3.

While FT is the name of classical concepts Toyota, the acronym for Compact Hybrid CH corresponds precisely to the positioning of the vehicle.

It is part of an overall aim to launch eight models that work with alternative energies in the range Toyota.

Models of gas / electric mains or rechargeable electric and fully expected before 2012 models running on hydrogen by 2015.

No specific technical details have been released at this time for this model Toyota promises lighter, cheaper and more efficient than the Prius 3 (see our test).
